Exxon Mobil Corporation, the largest oil company in the United States, said on Thursday that its profits increased by 32 percent in the second quarter of this year as a result of soaring oil and natural gas prices.
The company reported that its net income increased to $7.64 billion in the April-June quarter from $5.79 billion in the same period of last year.
Revenue totaled $88.57 billion in the quarter, a gain of 25 percent from $70.69 billion a year earlier.
On an oil-equivalent basis, the company said its energy production dropped 4.3 percent from last year's same quarter, reflecting both lower liquids and natural gas volumes.
