Lithuania plans to buy the 53.7 percent stake in the Mazeikiu Nafta refinery, held by Russian oil major Yukos, Lithuanian Prime Minister Algirdas Brazauskas announced on Thursday.
He said that the government plans to leave itself no more than 10 percent stake in the refinery.
At the present time the government owns 40.66 percent of Mazeikiu?s shares, while Yukos controls 53.7 percent.
Mazeikiu Nafta is one of Yukos? two foreign assets that have not been seized by the Russian government, the second one is placed in the Netherlands.
Despite The Russian Justice Ministry asked the Lithuanian and Dutch government to prevent any deals with Yukos? assets, there has been no response.
