EnCana Corp. has signed a deal to use Methanex Corp.'s terminal at Kitimat, B.C., to import diluting fluids for oilsands pipeline transport in northwestern Alberta.
Canadian oi company EnCana said Tuesday it plans to import up to 25,000 barrels a day of ''diluent'' to help transport oil to U.S. markets.
Financial details of the contract with Vancouver-based Methanex, the world's biggest producer of methanol, were not disclosed in a release.
EnCana said it expects to start importing diluent through Kitimat in early 2006 and has an option to buy the Kitimat terminal within the five-year term of the contract.
