BG Group, British exploration and production company, has announced plans to invest $1bn in new gas facilities in Tunisia.
The company, formed in 1997 from the demerger of British Gas into BG Group and Centrica, is already the African nation's largest foreign investor.
BG chairman Sir Robert Wilson said the investment would be made at two offshore sites, Miskar and Asdrubal.
The company has already invested more than 500m pounds at Miskar.
Back in July, BG reported a 43% rise in profits - helped by strong global gas prices.
