Canada's largest natural gas producer, EnCana Corp., formally denied any knowledge of a rumored takeover bid from Royal Dutch Shell Group PLC.
In its release EnCana said it was 'not aware of any intention by any party to make an offer for it. The firm also said it was not in any takeover talks with interested companies.
As ResourceInvestor.com noted, in that release EnCana president and chief executive Gwyn Morgan hinted at having a nationalistic pride for the company that he created three years ago and named by melding the words 'energy' and 'Canada.'
