Russian natural giant Gazprom may still use a $1.2 billion loan from Deutsche Bank and KfW Group, which is guaranteed by the German government, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung reported Friday, citing bank and government officials.
Deutsche Bank management board member Tessen von Heydebreck said he was not aware that Gazprom does not want to use the loan, the newspaper reported.
Former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, who is now chairman of the North European Gas Pipeline's shareholders committee, told Handelsblatt in an interview earlier this week that Gazprom would not need the loan.
