On May 13, 2006 the extraordinary general meeting of the OJSC Sibneft decided to change the company's name to Gazrpomneft and to re-register it in St. Petersburg. Sibneft had been registered in Omsk.
The name change confirmed Gazprom's purchasing 75% of Sibneft last year autumn. At the same time the brand Sibneft, very popular with consumers, will be preserved on the company's gasoline stations, the company informed.
The re-registration of Sibneft was determined by the company's increasing interests in the North-West region and its general development strategy. At the same time Gazprom neft will work for providing maximum support for its regions where Sibneft's main productive assets are situated, as the company informed.
