Ukraine?s Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko said on Monday, June 26, that her country should conclude its gas deals directly with suppliers, excluding the intermediaries, such as Russian-Ukrainian JV RosUkrEnergo.
?I am sure the three countries should conclude contracts directly, without the involvement of any interpreters or semi-legal intermediaries,? Tymoshenko said, referring to Russia and Turkmenistan, the main suppliers of natural gas to Ukraine.
She said direct negotiations over gas contracts would begin in Ukraine as soon as a coalition government comes to power.
Last week Tymoshenko pledged to reconsider all of the country?s current deals with Gazprom once she comes to power.
