Qatar Petroleum and Royal Dutch Shell announced on Thursday the launch of a big Gas-To-Liquid project, the largest GTL project in the world, at Qatar's Ras Laffan industrial city.
The project will develop offshore natural gas resources in Qatar's North Field and process the gas to extract natural gas liquids and ethane, according to the report.
Around 45.28 million cubic meters of wellhead gas will be produced from the North Field per day and transported and processed to produce approximately 120,000 barrels of condensate, Liquefied-Petroleum-Gas and ethane per day.
It is estimated that over its lifetime, the Pearl Project will produce upstream resources of approximately 3 billion barrels of oil equivalent.
Qatar's North Field is considered the largest single non-associated gas reservoir in the world with estimated recoverable resources in excess of 25.47 trillion cubic meters.
