European stocks climbed for the first time in three days, pushed higher by Statoil ASA and BHP Billiton, after oil surged the most in 16 months in New York yesterday and copper rallied.
Northern Rock Plc led U.K. banks higher after it reported earnings that beat analysts' estimates. Endesa SA rose after Spain's largest power company beat its 2006 profit forecast.
The Dow Jones Stoxx 600 Index rose 0.4 percent to 373.91 as of 10:06 a.m. in London. The Stoxx 50 gained 0.3 percent and the Euro Stoxx 50, a measure for the 13 nations sharing the euro, added 0.3 percent.
