The following stocks may rise or fall in India today.

The Bombay Stock Exchange's Sensitive Index, or Sensex, rose 0.8 percent to a record 14,515.90. The S&P/CNX Nifty Index on the National Stock Exchange added 0.8 percent to 4215.35. Nifty futures for February delivery gained 0.8 percent to 4206.

India's third-biggest state-run refiner Bharat Petroleum Corp. acquired a 20 percent interest in Australian exploration area AC/P32 in the Timor Sea waters, the company said in statement to the Bombay Stock Exchange. Bharat Petroleum rose 6.55 rupees, or 1.9 percent, to 358.8.

Indian Petrochemicals Corp. shut a plant that produces about 3 percent of the group's total output of yarn used to make textiles because of a labor dispute. Indian Petrochemicals, a unit of Reliance Industries Ltd., gained 1 rupee, or 0.4 percent, to 282.9.
