Chevron Helps Research Coal Conversion

Chevron Energy Technology Co. will provide up to $17.5 million to Penn State University

Chevron Energy Technology Co. will provide up to $17.5 million to Penn State University over the next five years to help research coal conversion technologies.

Both sides called the alliance a "joint research initiative" that will focus on subjects such as coal chemistry and conversion technology, and advanced fuels.

"We look forward to a highly productive research relationship that will contribute to the technical innovations of clean coal and coal-to-liquid technology," Don Paul, Chevron Corp.'s vice president and chief technology officer, said in a statement Thursday.
