Daily average oil prices of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries rose by 0.51 U.S. dollars to a record 77.46 dollars per barrel last Friday, 0.03 dollars higher than the previous high on Sept. 28, the cartel said Monday.
OPEC's weekly average oil prices reached 75.92 dollars per barrel last week, 0.59 dollars higher than the price in the previous week, approaching the last record of 76.17 dollars per barrel which was registered in the fourth week of September.
Market analysts said the upcoming demand peak for heating oil in the Northern Hemisphere, the obvious reduction of the oil stock in the United States last week and the possible military strike by Turkey on the Kurdish military group in northern Iraq jointly had driven up the price.
