Armenia Imported 20 pct More Gas in 2007

Armenia imported 2.054 bn cubic meters of natural gas in 2007, which is a 19.7-percent year-on-year increase, ArmRosgazprom said.

The country consumed 523 mn cubic meters of gas, which is a 32.5-percent increase comparing to 2006.

Commercial consumption of the gas was about 406 mn cubic meters (a 17.5-percent increase). Gas consumption by energy companies slightly decreased and totaled 507 mn cubic meters. In 2007, gas consumption by state-financed companies rose by 29.6% and totaled 44 mn cubic meters.
