Nippon Oil Shares Rose on UAE Project

Nippon Oil Corp, Japan's top refiner, climbed 3.2 percent to 740 yen after UAE investment firm Al Qudra Holding said the company is studying plans to build a cement sulphate plant in Abu Dhabi with Nippon Oil.

Nippon Oil would take care of "technical aspects" of the project and Al Qudra would be responsible for marketing, the Abu Dhabi-based firm said in a statement.

Toshiba Corp jumped 3.1 percent to 809 yen after a company source said at the weekend it is planning abandon its HD DVD format for high-definition DVDs.
