Ukraine's government has made changes to
the gas agreement with Russia, insisting that a middleman company RosUkrEnergo be removed from the deal, the prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko said Wednesday.
However, such amendments of the deal from the Ukrainian party may cause new tension with Russia.
RosUkrEnergo is a Switzerland-based gas trader, half-owned by Russia's natural gas giant Gazprom, which is not available for comments now.
The other changes include limiting Gazprom's gas sales to Ukraine's
industries to a maximum of 7.5 billion cubic meters in the current year - as
opposed to a minimum of that amount, as stipulated in the current agreement.
