Rosneft has obtained certification of its discovery of a new oil field in the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous-District. The company reported in a news release. The new field is called Moskovtsev and is located in the Chupalskoye licensed block of the Nefteyugansk district in Khanty-Mansiysk.
So far, four test wells have been drilled. Geological reserves in the new field are estimated to be 33 million tons, with recoverable reserves totaling 11.7 million tons. Rosneft plans to begin developing the field in 2012. The field was named in honor of Oleg Moskovets (1935-1944), a Distinguished Geologist of the Russian Soviet Federal Socialist Republic.
