Supermajor Shell has submitted a proposal for developing a liquefied natural gas project in the northern Russian region of Yamal, a senior executive said today. Russian gas export monopoly Gazprom has been talking to western energy companies and the world's biggest LNG exporter Qatar about jointly producing LNG on the Arctic peninsula.
"We submitted a proposal at the start of the year," Reuters quoted vice-president of new business development in Russia, Aidan Murphy as telling journalists on the sidelines of a conference in Paris. He declined to say when the Anglo-Dutch energy giant expected a response from Russia.
