Half of Gas Supplies to Bulgaria Could Come From Azerbaijan

Bulgartransgaz is developing two routes for receiving gas, 1news.az reports. One of the routes being reviewed would run through Turkey and the other through the Black Sea.
Bulgarian media have reported that the country could provide up to 50 percent of its natural gas needs with gas from Azerbaijan.
"The project could come on line no earlier than 2013", Bulgartranzgas Director Ivan Drenovichky said.
A meeting of the Bulgarian-Azerbaijani working group on the issue was held last Tuesday. Experts discussed ways liquified natural gas could be supplied to Bulgaria using Bulgartransgaz, The Azerbaijan state oil and gas company (SOCAR) and the Shah-Deniz consortium represented by Statoil, BP and Total.
After the requisite infrastructure is built, Bulgaria will receive 2 billion cubic meters of gas a year.
