Rosneft, Russia's largest oil company, wants to negotiate with gas giant Gazprom on its participation in gas supplies to China, Rosneft President Eduard Khudainatov said on Wednesday.
"Rosneft could deliver gas to China and we want to consider possible cooperation with Gazprom," Khudainatov said, adding that he will meet with Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller soon to discuss the issue.
"Entering the market jointly would be desirable," the Rosneft president said.
Although its core business is oil, Rosneft is one of the largest independent gas producers in Russia. Natural gas output accounts for about ten percent of the company's overall hydrocarbon production. According to the company's data, Rosneft's natural gas production potential exceeds 55 billion cubic meters per year.
