The Colombian government’s National Hydrocarbons Agency (ANH) has contracted with Houston firm Ingrain to digitize and characterize core samples possessed by the agency, the company said.
The rock physics laboratory company will characterize thousands of meters of whole sedimentary core that the ANH’s National Core Repository has in storage, Ingrain said. The work will allow better assessment of the hydrocarbon potential of Colombia’s source rocks, and a digital database will be created with the information.
As of last year, Colombia had about 1.9 billion bbl of proved oil reserves and 377 billion m3 of proved natural gas reserves.
