Halcón to Buy Liquids-Rich Assets in North Dakota for USD 1.45 Billion

Halcón Resources said Monday that it will acquire producing and undeveloped assets in the liquids-rich US Williston Basin from Petro-Hunt for USD 1.45 billion.

The assets consist of 81,000 net acres in the Bakken and Three Forks shale formations in Williams, Mountrail, McKenzie, and Dunn counties of North Dakota.

The current average net production from these assets is more than 10,500 BOEPD. Their total proved reserves are estimated to be about 42.4 million BOE, of which 88% percent is estimated to be oil.

The company will pay USD 700 million in cash and USD 750 million in stock for the purchase. The deal is expected to close in December.
