Scotney Well Comes Up Dry

Trapoil reported Friday that a well it is involved in on the Scotney exploration prospect in the North Sea has come up dry.

The Scotney well, on license P1658, Block 20/5b, was drilled to its target depth of 10,600 feet and achieved its primary target: the Tweedsmuir Sandstone Member within the late Jurassic interval. But the well penetrated thin sands with no significant hydrocarbons found. Trapoil said there are no plans to conduct a drill stem test and the well will be plugged and abandoned.

The partners in license P1658 include: operator Suncor Energy, with a 28.75-percent interest; Norwegian Energy Company UK, with a 43.75-percent holding; First Oil and Gas, with 15 percent; and Trapoil, with 12.5 percent.
