SOCAR becomes largest investor and taxpayer in Georgia

On February 14, Tbilisi hosted a ceremony of awarding a number of companies for achievements in oil products sector in Georgia. The ceremony held by the Union of Oil Product Importers was attended by representatives of the government and state structures, diplomatic missions, international and nongovernmental organizations, oil companies operating in Georgia and abroad.. ''SOCAR Energy Georgia'' was proclaimed the winner as the largest investor and the company implementing important social project and was by special diplomas and prizes. ''SOCAR Georgia Petroleum'' was announced as the largest taxpayer in to state budget. The amount paid by ''SOCAR Georgia Petroleum'' to the state budget of Georgia in 2013 makes 129,457,626 GEL (about USD 78,459,167). Since 2006, the Company has contributed 1,123,824,431 GEL (about USD 681,105,715) to the state budget of Georgia.

It’s to mention that SOCAR commissioned 11 new filling stations via SOCAR Georgia Petroleum in Georgia last year. 4 of them were gas filling station and 6 - multifunctional complexes. At present, 9 filling stations are under construction. In general, 106 petrol stations of SOCAR operate in Georgia. 326 297 tonnes of oil products were imported via SOCAR Georgia Petroleum to Georgian market in 2013, 295 715 tonnes of which belonged to Azerbaijan.
