Chief Executive of Aberdeen-based Saltire Energy, Mike Loggie, has been shortlisted as a regional finalist in the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year Awards 2015.

Chief Executive of Aberdeen-based Saltire Energy, Mike Loggie, has been shortlisted as a regional finalist in the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year Awards 2015.

The annual EY awards, recognise business leaders from across the world that have shown the passion, vision and drive to succeed. Winners will be announced at the regional Awards Dinner for Scotland on 25 June. The judging criteria will include entrepreneurial spirit, innovation, personal integrity and strategic direction.

Mike Loggie established Saltire Energy, a leading supplier of drilling tools to the offshore oil and gas industry, in 1986 and has since grown it into a group of three highly successful subsidiaries. Over the past three years, the company’s turnover figures have increased by 68% and it has grown its on-the-ground presence in Australia, Africa, Europe, the Middle East and the Far East as a result of client demand.

Mike Loggie, Chief Executive of Saltire Energy, said: “It is a huge honour to be shortlisted for this prestigious business accolade. I am very proud of what I have achieved to date, which I can credit to my passion for the energy industry and devotion to delivering an excellent level of customer service.

“Saltire Energy has experienced rapid growth over nearly three decades of business, which wouldn’t have been possible without my dedicated team, I truly believe that they are the driving force behind our success. As a result of the team’s commitment to meeting the needs of our customers, we have become internationally recognised for the high quality of our products and service.”

In March 2015, Saltire Energy was named one of the 1,000 most inspiring companies in the UK by the London Stock Exchange, which followed its listings on The Sunday Times Fast Track 100 Ones to Watch and The Sunday Times Profit Track 100 league tables in 2014.

Mr Loggie continued: “It is highly encouraging that the success of Saltire Energy and my support of local initiatives have been acknowledged by some of the most influential business leaders of today. I am looking forward to the awards ceremony and I hope to build on this success in the future.”

Mr Loggie has been acknowledged for his philanthropic contributions to local community initiatives and charitable causes in the past. In 2014, Mr Loggie was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Aberdeen in recognition of his on-going support of the university and was made a Burgess of Guild for Aberdeen in the same year, as a result of his contribution to the community.

He set up the Saltire in the Community Programme in 2008 to support a range of local and international projects, primarily helping disadvantaged young people. Through its Saltire in the Community Programme, Saltire Energy has established and supported a number of local sporting initiatives aimed at enhancing the fitness, health and well-being of disadvantaged children. The company has also donated substantial funds to local charity, Befriend a Child, the University of Aberdeen and the Aberdeen Sports Village Aquatics Centre.
