On July 21, 2016, SOCAR delegation led by Vagif Aliyev, Chief of the SOCAR Investment Department, visited the Ministry of Economy of Turkey and met Minister Nihat Zeybekci.
The chairman of SOCAR Turkey, the Turkish branch of the Azerbaijani state oil company, has emphasized it will continue to invest in the country despite the July 15 failed coup attempt, while also reaffirming the company’s commitment to Turkey.
«The company’s investments in the country totaled over $18 billion, with projects which will help Europe meet its energy needs,» Vagif Aliyev said.
President of Azerbaijan`s state oil firm, SOCAR, Rovnag Abdullayev said star oil refinery will start working in 2018, adding that the largest container sea port in the Aegean Sea region will soon be put into operation. «Our activity at Petkim symbolizes the confidence that we put on Turkey and its economy. In Turkey, directly or indirectly, SOCAR represents a 40,000-strong family. Turkey is our home. So we will continue to increase our investment in Turkey,» he added.
Minister Nihat Zeybekci welcomed SOCAR as one of the most considerable investors in Turkey and said its projects had a great significance for the Turkish economy. He wished every success to the SOCAR’s activity in Turkey.
