Oilfield services company Wood Group has won 2 contracts totalling $84.89 mln to provide engineering services to develop deepwater production for BP’s Mad Dog project in the Gulf of Mexico.
For the 1st $80 mln contract, Wood Group, which has been contracted by Samsung Heavy Industries, will provide engineering and procurement services for the topsides for BP’s Mad Dog phase 2 floating production unit.
This follows the completion of interim agreement period work completed December 2016, which was valued at $4.5 mln.
The 2nd $4.89 mln contract is part of the recently signed global services agreement with BP for subsea engineering and project management services to the Mad Dog 2 project, which includes gas lift system interface design, geospatial information system support, subsea controls engineering and geotechnical engineering support.
Wood Group chief executive Robin Watson said: «These contracts demonstrate the confidence our key clients have in our teams to meet their specific cost-saving needs while delivering innovative and impartial engineering solutions on time. The combined Wood Group offering provides a perfect blend of our technical expertise giving BP an optimal solution.»
