La Paz, June 28 - Neftegaz.RU. Wide repercussion has on June 27 the announcement that Russian Gazprom will drill 8 wells in the hydrocarbon field of Vitiacua, department of Chuquisaca, Bolivia.

President of the state company Yacimientos Petroliferos Fiscales Bolivianos (YPFB), Oscar Barriga, detailed the project includes 2 exploratory wells and 6 development ones.

The hydrocarbons zone has an estimated potential of 2.17 trillion cubic feet and production is estimated at 420 to 430 million cubic feet, he said.

According to Barriga, that means an additional 12 million cubic meters to the present production. YPFB President added, quoted by local media, that exploratory work is planned for the year 2019.

He indicated that after the signing of the pre contract of exploration and exploitation carried out by president Evo Morales during his recent visit to Russia, and according to the procedures of YPFB, the next step will be the signing of a contract of operation between the parts.

This will be the 3rd contract with the participation of Gazprom in Bolivia, added Barriga.
