Kazakh PM and Tatneft CEO discussed tire plant construction in Saran

Nur-Sultan, November 6 - Neftegaz.RU. The prime minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin hosted the General director of Tatneft, Nail Maganov, for talks relating the construction of a new tyre factory in Kazakhstan.

The parties discussed the progress of preparatory work on the project for the production of automobile tires in Saran, Karaganda region. “The construction of a tire plant in Kazakhstan is important to meet the needs of the domestic market and develop export potential,” Mamin said.

As of today, Kazakhstan's demand for tires is fully covered by imports. In 2018, more than 4 million tires and tires for auto cars were imported. According to the roadmap for the project implementation, automobile tires will be sent to the primary equipment of cars produced in Kazakhstan, the secondary market, as well as for export to neighboring countries.

An investment memorandum on the implementation of the project was signed by Karaganda region’s Akimat and Tatneft on September 27, 2020 in the presence of A.Mamin and President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov.

The production capacity of the plant will be 3 million tires for passenger vehicles and 500,000 tires for commercial vehicles and buses. Over 1 000 new jobs will be created thereby. The total volume of investments will be about $257 million. The commissioning of the plant is scheduled for 2022.
