The Communist Party of India (Marxist) demanded an inquiry into the allotment of gas and petrol dealerships in the State and cancellation of those allotted in violation of guidelines.
In a letter to Minister for Petroleum Ram Naik, CPM state secretary B V Raghavulu alleged that 41 dealerships were allotted by the ministry but 90 per cent were in violation of guidelines. Most of these dealers belong to Karimnagar, Adilabad and Nizamabad districts and are related to union ministers, he said.
Raghavulu further alleged that in Karimnagar and Warangal districts, petrol bunk dealerships were sanctioned to income tax payers. However, tax payers are not eligible for the benefits under the scheme. Therefore, an inquiry into the process becomes imperative, he added.
