More than 300 people have been evacuated from a Sydney high rise this morning after a major gas leak in the city.
A fire brigade spokesman said the gas leak, on Bligh Street near the O'Connell Street Corner, has led to a 14 floor highrise being evacuated, with 300 to 600 people forced to leave the area.
The surrounding streets, including Hunter, Bent, Elizabeth, Bligh, and O'Connell have been blocked off. Firefighters were first contacted about 7.45am (AEST) about the leak.
Gas company technicians are attending.
