Container Asia 2001, the biggest gathering of ports, maritime and logistics players in Asia will be held in Kuala Lumpur on June 28 and 29.
The event is expected to attract 250 international and local senior executives from shipping lines, ports, multinational companies, freight forwarding and transportation firms.
Participants would be able to exchange information and views on current issues affecting Asian transport and also have a chance to network, said organiser Baltic Conventions.
"Papers by 17 leading international maritime experts will also be presented. There will be an exhibition of 58 of the world's leading equipment and services suppliers in the container transport industry," said conventions director Rory J. Doyle at a press conference here.
This year's exhibition, will for the first time feature a Shipping Lines Pavilion, bringing together major lines under one roof.
The event is hosted by Port Klang Authority (PKA).
"This is not only an opportunity to promote Port Klang to the world maritime community but also for local players to keep abreast of international development," said PKA general manager Datin Paduka O.C. Phang.
"With the advent of Afta and in the IT era, we need to position ourselves globally."
