Second Gas Leak Near Plaza

The second natural gas leak in a week forced evacuations in a three-block area around the Lensic Theater on Wednesday, fire authorities said.
A 6-inch gas line ? the same one ruptured by a construction crew last week ? was damaged Wednesday during work on a nearby sewer line in Burro Alley.

The gas line was struck in a different location than last week's rupture.

Burro Alley is adjacent to the Lensic and is just west of the Plaza.

Two women were seriously injured last month when their insurance office ? located just a few blocks from the Plaza ? was leveled by an explosion that resulted from a gas leak.
