Fairfax County police are trying to figure out whether a shooting at an Alexandria gas station is connected to other recent robberies along Richmond Highway near the Beltway.
Police say a 43-year-old District resident was approached by two young men as he pumped gas at an Amoco in the 5800 block of Richmond Highway. One started a conversation with the victim while another displayed a handgun and demanded money.
Police tell The Washington Post the customer was reaching into his pocket when he was shot. He's in fair condition at Inova Fairfax Hospital.
A similar incident took place Sunday at the same Amoco. Police say a 29-year-old Alexandria man was fueling his car when he was robbed at gunpoint.
On Friday, a 53-year-old Alexandria woman told police a man tried to snatch her purse while she was pumping gas.
