Some 14 armed Afghans swooped on a gas station in this central city early Monday and stole some 31
million rials ($3,875) in cash, a reliable source told IRNA.
"The Afghans had tied up the servicemen in the gas station and
stole 31 million rials in cash as well as a cellphone," the source
speaking on customary condition of anonymity said, adding the
robbers had fired no shots.
Police have launched an extensive investigation into the case.
Iran is home to one of the world's largest refugee population
which is a direct result of a long drawn-out war plaguing neighboring
Afghanistan.
In July, the Iranian authorities warned undocumented Afghan
refugees they face expulsion within two months
