Two airplanes have crashed into the upper floors of both of the towers of the World Trade Center in lower Manhattan Tuesday.
Smoke filled the sky in the financial district, seconds after a loud explosion was heard. Both planes are said to be passenger aircraft. The US Federal Bureau of Investigation was investigating claims that the aircraft that crashed into the World Trade Center Tuesday was hijacked, according to BBC reports. The BBC added that all flights into and out of the New York area had been suspended. Trading on the US' New York Mercantile Exchange has also been suspended. Chicago's Sears Tower, the tallest building in the US, has been evacuated as a precautionary measure as has Boston's John Hancock Tower.
