KUALA LUMPUR: A syndicate using fake credit cards to buy petrol in the Klang Valley has been busted following the arrest of three men including the mastermind.
Police also seized 44 fake credit cards and two cars, which had modified petrol tanks.
Federal police commercial crimes director Deputy Comm Datuk Maizan Shaari said the suspects, in their 30s, were arrested in Amp-ang.
He said the syndicate bought petrol from four or five petrol stations after midnight and swiped the cards with a maximum purchase of RM80 per transaction to avoid suspicion.
?The petrol purchased with fake cards was sold mostly to taxi drivers and factories at discounted rates,?? he added.
