Gas leak forces temporary evacuation

A gas leak forced approximately 35 people from their homes this morning on Flanders Rd., near Eglinton Ave. and the Allen Expressway.
The temporary evacuation began at around 9:45 a.m., when emergency crews were called to the area, near Bathurst St. and Eglinton Ave. W.

Police said the leak started when city workers hit a gas line. The evacuation was a precautionary measure and no one was injured were reported, police added. Residents were allowed to return to their homes around 11 a.m.
