Cars components are to be shipped

The Gorky Automobile Plant (GAZ) is to ship to Iran before the end of January five hundred sets of component parts, needed to assemble GAZ automobiles in that country, IRNA reported. GAZ Director General Dmitry Streshnev told ITAR-TASS that the plant had already received a check for them from its business partner, the Iran Khodro Diesel Company, jointly with which the GAZ plant has set up a shop in the suburbs of Tehran, where GAZ automobiles are to be assembled. To start with, the shop will assemble seven modifications of light "Gazel" trucks. Its output capacity is to reach 20,000 automobiles within the next three years.
The joint GAZ-Iran Khodro diesel project was launched in 1999. The first sets of component parts included not more than twenty units. The project was suspended due to technical and financial difficulties, but in 2001 the sides agreed to resume it and a corresponding agreement was signed.
