Russia to Sell More Nuclear Technology

Russia is ready to play a comprehensive part in the implementation of Vietnam's plans to develop nuclear power engineering, according to Russian Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Khristenko.

Khristenko said Russian nuclear scientists are actively cooperating with their Vietnamese colleagues, but this cooperation consists mainly of training personnel and taking part in various scientific and technical experiments. "At the same time, those plans which Vietnam is preparing for the development of nuclear power engineering in the future, are also extremely interesting to us, and we are ready to take part in their implementation in a variety of ways," Khristenko said.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, Russia has a fairly good chance of taking part in the construction of Vietnam's first nuclear power station, which will be implemented in the next decade. "Our potential in this sector is very high, and the Russian nuclear power industry has already proved its effectiveness, not just in Russia, but also in many other countries," the Russian deputy prime minister noted. "Furthermore, unlike many other countries, we have never cast doubt on the future of nuclear power and we possess a substantial scientific and industrial base for the creation of nuclear power facilities."
