China is expected its petrochemical products demand to grow a 10 per cent in the next decade.
The country expects to consume 18.5 million tons of ethylene next year, which will jump to 27 million tons by 2010, according to the deputy chief engineer of China National Petroleum and Chemical Planning Institute Liu Yanwei.
He said that the country can produce 14 million tons of ethylene in 2010, far from enough to meet demand. "That means China will have to rely heavily on imports to solve its shortages.?
