Eni and GE break ground on 48-MW Kazakh wind plant

Astana, December 11 - Neftegaz.RU. Italian oil and gas major Eni SpA and GE Renewable Energy have broken ground on a 48-MW wind project in Kazakhstan.

The Badamsha Wind Farm, as it is named, will be comprised of 13 GE 3.8-130 onshore wind turbines of 3.8 MW each. It is located in Aktobe oblast.

Badamsha is part of a collaboration initiative between Eni and GE focused on the promotion and development of renewable energy sources. The wind park is Eni’s 1st large-scale investment in the wind sector while it is also GE’s 1st onshore wind plant in Kazakhstan.

According to previous statements made by the Italian firm, the wind farm is to be completed by the end of 2019. When operational, Badamsha will generate around 198 GWh of electricity per year.

The wind park supports the country's goal to have renewable sources accounting for 50% of its electricity consumption by 2050, Eni noted.
