BP-operated Olympic Pipeline, a 400-mile products line running from Ferndale, Washington, to Portland, Oregon, has shut in the wake of a 7.0 earthquake that hit the Seattle area Wednesday, market sources said. It was not immediately known whether the 330,000 b/d line suffered structural damage or was shut down as a precaution. Delivery lines carry products from Olympic's mainline to bulk terminals at Seattle, Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, Tacoma, Olympia and Vancouver in Washington and Linnton and Portland in Oregon. The Seattle-Tacoma airport has been closed as a precaution. In June 1999, a portion of the Olympic line exploded following a gasoline leak near Bellingham, Washington, killing three people.
