Norway's DSND Subsea AS was awarded a major pipelaying contract by Maersk Oil & Gas AS for development of the Tyra Syd Ost field in the North Sea. The contract is valued around $28 million. The installation phase is planned to commence in June 2001. The project will require services of the pipelay vessel Skandi Navica and other DSND vessels. The contract covers fabrication and installation of about 37.2-miles of pipes in dimensions ranging from 3 inches to 16 inches, fabrication and installation of four risers, tie-ins by divers as well as trenching, rock dumping and testing.
