Ecuador's oil pipeline (SOTE) resumed pumping overnight, just over a day after it broke in a landslide, state oil company Petroecuador said.
The Transecuadorean pipeline started pumping again at 0235 GMT, some 31 hours after it ruptured. The company said the break was likely due to pressure from landslides which have caused previous ruptures near the site, some 34 miles (55 km) east of Quito.
"Operations are back to normal," a Petroecuador source said. The company said some 1,000 barrels of crude were spilled in the rupture. The SOTE has a maximum transport capacity of 400,000 bpd.
