Swissair Group has said that it is seeking possible court action to prevent Crossair from using the branding ``Swiss'' when it takes over the former national airline's fleet at the end of the month.
Swissair has said that it is obliged to take legal action to prevent Crossair from using the planned name and corporate image and will ask the relevant court to block it from doing so. It did not say where it is going to file any suit.
?Crossair is violating their right to the Swissair brand with its new ?Swiss? brand and corporate design,? Swissair said in a faxed statement. The new national carrier ?has so far shown no desire to seek an amicable settlement of the issue,? they said.
Basel, Switzerland-based Crossair said last month that it plans to rename itself Swiss Air Lines Ltd. and fly under the brand name ?Swiss? from next month. Its planned airplane livery will feature red lowercase lettering on a white fuselage plus a Swiss flag on the tail, reminiscent of Swissair's logo.
