AP Moeller, the world's largest shipping company, has said that it plans to sell two units that do not fit into its main business of oil and transportation.
The two units are Roulunds Fabriker, which makes brake linings and hose systems, and Maersk Medical, which makes catheters and urine bags. Analysts estimate that the combined value of the units is about 1 billion kroner ($120 million) to 1.5 billion.
?Other companies that focus more on these areas will
be better equipped to fully utilize their full potential,? said Eivind Kolding, chief financial officer of AP Moeller, in an interview.
AP Moeller also owns Dansk Supermarked, which is Denmark's second largest supermarket chain, Maersk Data, an Internet company specialized in logistics and shipping, and Danish airline Maersk Air. There are no plans to sell any of these units, Kolding said.
