Swiss Air Lines Ltd., the Swiss carrier that is taking over most operations of the bankrupt Swissair Group, said that seat occupancy increased in the first three months of 2002 on higher demand for UK and Spanish routes.
The seat load factor was 50.9 percent in the first quarter from 46.2 percent from last year.
?Exceptionally good traffic results were obtained in the important UK market,? the company said in a faxed statement. ?Business to Spanish destinations was also very good.?
The airline changed its name from Crossair after taking over assets from its former parent, Swissair, which filed for protection from creditors late last year.
