Ukraine Invited to Join Pipeline Project

During today's talks with the Ukrainian delegations Turkmen President Saparmurat Niyazov invited President Kuchma to attend talks on the construction of the gas pipeline between the leaders of the three countries, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan, to be held at the end of May in Islamabad.

?Ukraine can join the pipeline construction,? Niyazov said.

These talks will result in an agreement on the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan gas pipeline worth that is wotrth an estimated two billion dollars .

The pipeline will be 1,500 kilometers in length, of which 740km will be in Afghanistan, 200 km in Turkmenistan and a further 600 km in Pakistan.
