$750 Million Lufthansa Deal Goes To Rolls Royce

Rolls Royce, the world's second largest maker of aircraft engines, has said that it has won an order worth seven hundred and fifty million dollars from Deutsche Lufthansa to supply engines for the airlines Airbus A380 superjumbos.

The German carrier ordered Trent 900 engines to power its planned fleet of 15 A380s, Rolls Royce said in a Regulatory News Service statement.

?This is a significant order from one of the world's most prestigious flag carriers, who have committed to Trent power for their future large aircraft fleet,? said Mike Terrett, Rolls's civil aerospace president, in the statement.

The UK company offered licensed overhaul work worth several hundred million dollars to the airline's Lufthansa Technik division to help win the order, trade magazine Flight International has reported.
